On Mondays at 10 am, we gather together "first thing in the morning" to pray for people in our families and community. We read the Scriptures assigned for the upcoming Sunday, one at a time, Old Testament, then the Psalm, then the Epistle, and finally the Holy Gospel.
As we read, we apply God's Word to the prayer requests we just prayed. Anyone can ask a question, but nobody is expected to read if they do not want to.
This Bible Study came about because I realized how important it is that I preach to the level of faith of my people. It does not help our congregation if I preach in a way they do not understand. But I also do not want to preach in a condescending way. Together Pastor and the people work through the Bible texts together and we grow in faith toward God and fervent love toward one another in the process.
